Monkton Students Selected for Junior Inter-Regional Regatta

On Saturday 20th April, six Monkton students were selected to represent the WAGS (Wiltshire, Avon, Gloucestershire and Somerset) and Wales team at the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta at the National Water Sport Centre in Nottingham.

James, Ethan, Ed and Toby raced in a J16 composite 8 with Monmouth School. They raced hard and finished the time trial in 5th place, qualifying for the A final. Unfortunately they raced some quality crews in the A final, finishing 6th overall. Jemima raced in a WJ16 composite 8 with Millfield School, Avon County Rowing Club, Minerva Bath Rowing Club and Llandaff Rowing Club. They made a solid start in the time trial but they were against some fast crews and placed 11th, qualifying for the B final where they finished 5th.

A positive start to regatta season and valuable experience for the Year 11 rowers.
