Teaching Assistant / Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Start Date: September 2024
Salary: £12.12 per hour (Teaching Assistant), £13.63 per hour (Higher Level Teaching Assistant)

Monkton is seeking to appoint a full time Teaching Assistant (TA) or Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work in the Lower School at Monkton Prep School, supporting children between the ages of 4 and 9 years old. 

The hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am-4pm (30 minute lunch break). Option to work 8am-6pm some days to run our Aftercare provision for Reception to Year 2 children from 3.30-6.00pm. If so, an additional break would be provided in the afternoon. 

Responsibilities

The primary role of the teaching assistant should be to work with teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils while also promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion. You will give assistance to pupils so that they can access the curriculum, participate in learning and experience a sense of achievement.

Early Years Practitioner

Salary: £12.12 per hour, £18,635 or £20,622 per year (depending on hours worked)

Monkton is seeking to appoint a full time Early Years Practitioner who is comfortable, enthusiastic and passionate about being responsible for helping young children feel safe and cared for in a nurturing environment. You will be responsible for observing and developing pupils' learning within our Early Years team, supporting the Early Years Leader. You will hold a Level 2, or ideally a Level 3, Early Years qualification and will be looking to work in a school that grows fruitful people through innovation and a commitment to professional growth, and prioritises positive relationships.

A key element of this role is to support the provision of our longer day between 4pm-6pm, which is why two of the days are longer.

Chef de Partie

We are looking for a Chef to join our team on a permanent basis to support in giving an outstanding experience and contribute to our ethos of fresh, modern, British cooking using sustainable, honest, local ingredients. The School has a varied menu which includes breakfast, lunches and suppers as well as a variety of weddings, formal dinners and residential lets throughout the year.

Some experience within a similar role or school environment would be desirable as we provide around 9000 meals per week during term time across our two sites plus a wide range of hospitality events. 

What you’ll do as a Chef:

  • Ensure that all your food is prepared, cooked and presented to the highest possible standards.
  • Make sure all food is prepared with due care and attention, particularly in regard to customers’ special dietary requirements and any allergies that may affect our customers / consumers.
  • Liaise with your senior chefs regularly and effectively to ensure a smoothly run, high-volume kitchen.

Residential Matron/Nurse

Monkton is seeking to appoint a dedicated and professional Residential Matron/Nurse to join our small, hardworking and friendly medical centre team.

The aim of the role is to provide overnight medical cover for the school from 6:30pm until 8am (11am on a Sunday), two nights a week during term time.

To support pupils’ health and wellbeing so that they can fully participate in school life and provide health care to members of the school community.  In both areas, the medical centre team strives to develop and maintain positive and mutually supportive relationships with the wider school community, particularly those at the core of our exceptional pastoral care. 

NB: The School has three half term holidays and normally five leave out weekends (compulsory and non-compulsory) during the School year.  The Residential Matron would not normally be required to work during compulsory leave periods.

Medical Pupil Escort

This role requires a flexible time commitment

Rate of pay: £10.90 per hour

We are seeking a Medical Escort to accompany pupils to scheduled, non-emergency medical appointments, acting in a non-medical capacity as a responsible adult.

Pastoral Technology Lead - Internal

Monkton is looking for our next Pastoral Technology Lead. The successful person will lead on and develop Monkton Senior School’s pastoral support of students in their use of technology. You will work with and advise the Pastoral SLT on policy and practice. Researching outstanding practice at other schools and organisations in order to keep abreast of new developments and technologies. 


The post holder will be a part of the pastoral team, responsible to Deputy Head Pastoral for this aspect of their employment. While the role is focussed on the Senior School the holder will also work with the Prep School pastoral team in their support of students with technology, ensuring a coherent development of support through the years and advising the MPS team in technical matters.

MSS Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead - Internal

Monkton is seeking the next MSS DDSL from September 2024. 

The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead will manage referrals, liasing with the Principal or DSL to update them of all ongoing issues and enquiries. You will act as a source of support, advice and expertise to staff on matters of safety and safeguarding and when deciding whether to make a referral.

The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead should receive appropriate training carried out every two years in
order to understand the assessment process for providing early help and intervention and have a working knowledge of how local authorities conduct a child protection case.

You will ensure each member of staff has access to and understands the school’s child protection policies and
procedures, ensuring all new staff receive training in a timely manner after commencing employment.

Overall you will be alert to the specific needs of children in need, those with special educational needs and young carers; be able to keep detailed, accurate, appropriate, secure written records of concerns and referrals; and encourage a culture of listening to children and taking account of their wishes and feelings, among all
staff, in any measures the school may put in place to protect them.

Monkton Holiday Camp Assistant

Casual contract, £11.44 per hour

Start date: 25th July 2024

Monkton Leisure is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Children’s Holiday Camp Assistant on a casual basis during the school holidays, whose primary responsibility is to assist with the day to day running of the popular Monkton Minis and Muckers holiday play schemes. This scheme is for 4-8 and 8-14 year old children based at Monkton Combe School (most commonly the Prep and Pre-Prep sites). Monkton Holiday Camps run from 8:15am to 5:30pm.

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and professional Sport Pro (Hockey) to join at an exciting time for Monkton as we look to take sport forward with a whole school approach. We welcome applications from individuals with extensive coaching or playing experience.  The successful candidate will be an exceptional coach required to support both boys and girls hockey. They will support the standards and the vision for a successful department, helping to shape the morale of both the department and the pupils of the school through their coaching, management and the inspiration with which they coach the sport. 

This position would report to and work under the Director and Assistant Director of Sport, as well as the Head of hockey, to deliver the hockey programme across the school. They would be joining a hardworking and friendly Sports department who will all be working across the whole school.

The aim of the role is to represent Monkton School and to support the school’s objective of providing excellent standards of sports throughout all interactions with parents and pupils, while also upholding and applying the Monkton School values and mission statement.
