Start date: August 2026
Fixed Term Contract: 12 months (term-time only)
Salary: £14,839 (you’ll receive accommodation and full board during term time)
Do you have what it takes to inspire young people and have a devotion to support an excellent holistic education?
We are seeking to appoint a number of Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) for the forthcoming academic year, starting in August 2026, on a 12 month fixed term contract at Monkton Senior School, set in the beautiful Midford valley on the outskirts of Bath.
Although this role is titled Graduate Teaching Assistant, it would also be suitable for individuals looking for a placement year position as part of their degree.
Graduate Teaching Assistants are seen as an important part of the Pastoral and Academic teams at Monkton. This is an exciting opportunity to explore and gain experience of working with young people, ages 13-18 years, in a supportive environment and allow you to decide if teaching or pastoral care is the right career path for you. You will have the opportunity to get involved with various activities during the school day, such as supporting in a classroom environment and covering lessons, supporting and supervising sport lessons and other extracurricular activities, to be resident on site, and to help care for the boarders after the academic day has finished and at the weekends.
We pride ourselves on our lively Christian ethos, excellent exam results and our strong pastoral care. At Monkton, we are setting standards for life; giving young people the qualities of character they need.
So, if you strive to work collaboratively and want to actively get involved in the co-curricular, pastoral life of the school, then we think you will feel right at home here.
Previous GTAs have gone on to a variety of careers including (but not limited to) SCITT and PGCE courses, counselling or church leadership - the perfect springboard for many different types of careers. We have a number of previous GTAs who are still working with us here at Monkton in a variety of roles!
