Teacher of Biology (part-time)

Monkton is seeking to appoint a Part-time Teacher of Biology from 1st September 2026. Admissions Assistant

Head of Culinary School

Start Date: 1st September 2026
Hours: Part-time, initially 8 lessons per week (approx 0.23 FTE). Potential to take on other duties.

Monkton Combe School is looking to appoint a Head of Culinary School to start September 2026. This is a new role with the primary focus of delivering the Leiths CTH Level 3 Extended Certificate in Professional Cookery. This is a new offering from the school and is an A-level style vocational course designed to provide students with professional-grade skills, UCAS points (12-36), and enhanced employability.

As the Head of Culinary School, the successful candidate will not only be an exceptional cook and teacher but also a strategic leader capable of promoting the department as a centre of excellence within the school and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the teaching of the Leiths CTH Level 3 course, ensuring all pupils master core professional techniques including advanced knife skills, sauce making, pastry, meat and fish preparation, and international cuisines.
  • Demonstrate key techniques and professional skills to pupils during lessons. 
  • Oversee the use of the Leiths Education Portal, ensuring students track evidence, upload photos of dishes, and utilise skills videos for independent study.
  • Manage the departmental budget effectively, including the procurement of high-quality fresh ingredients and the maintenance of professional-grade equipment.
  • Ensure the kitchen operates as a safe, professional environment in full compliance with Health and Safety and Food Hygiene regulations.

Person Specification

  • Qualified in a Culinary discipline or relevant industry experience

Sport Performance Coach (Hockey)

Salary: £16,400 per annum, term-time only. Additional pay available for outside of term-time performance camps.

Are you a dedicated hockey professional looking to inspire the next generation of athletes? Monkton Combe School is seeking an exceptional Sport Performance Coach (Hockey) to join our hardworking and friendly sports department. 

Reporting to the Head of Hockey, you will support the delivery of a high-quality hockey programme across both our Prep and Senior age groups. This is a whole-school role that focuses on our core sporting aims of breadth, participation, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performance Coaching: Supporting both boys' and girls' hockey programmes across the two schools.
  • Player Development: Providing 1:1 or small group coaching and working closely with sports scholars and performance teams.

Grounds & Gardens Operative

Full time, permanent

Monkton is seeking to appoint a full time Grounds and Gardens Operative to join our dedicated and talented team working across both our school sites based on the outskirts of Bath. The successful candidate will come with a background in Horticulture, desirably holding NVQ2 Amenity Horticulture or NVQ2 Grounds maintenance equivalent, and will have a pride and passion for ensuring the schools beautiful grounds and gardens are maintained and presented to an exceptional standard throughout the year. 

We also welcome applications from those without qualifications but who would like to gain their qualification through an apprenticeship. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in Horticulture or Grounds maintenance, who will have the exciting opportunity to carry out personal development and training through an apprenticeship scheme.
 

Key responsibilities

  • General gardening, turf care, grass cutting and similar work which may include heavy lifting.
  • Maintenance and preparation of grass tennis courts, including mowing, marking, rolling, brushing and renovation works.
  • Maintenance of artificial sports surfaces, including brushing, cleaning, infill management and basic repairs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Completing emergency lighting click test.
  • Fire Alarm testing to ensure fire alarm panels operate correctly.
  • Legionella - maintain flushing programmes where outlets have been idle, checking temperatures of outlets, descaling outlets.

Graduate Teaching Assistant (Senior School)

Graduate Teaching Assistants are seen as an important part of the Pastoral and Academic teams at Monkton. This is an exciting opportunity to explore and gain experience of working with young people, ages 13-18 years, in a supportive environment and allow you to decide if teaching or pastoral care is the right career path for you. You will have the opportunity to get involved with various activities during the school day, such as supporting in a classroom environment and covering lessons, supporting and supervising sport lessons and other extracurricular activities, to be resident on site, and to help care for the boarders after the academic day has finished and at the weekends.

We are looking for a Chef de Partie to join our current team and work with our team to give our customers an outstanding experience and contribute to our ethos of fresh, modern, British cooking using sustainable, honest, local ingredients. The School has a varied menu which includes breakfast, lunches and suppers as well as a variety of weddings, formal dinners and residential lets throughout the year.

Some experience within a similar role would be desirable as we provide around 9000 meals per week during term time across our two sites plus a wide range of hospitality events.

What you’ll do as a Chef de Partie:

  • Ensure that all your food is prepared, cooked and presented to the highest possible standards.
  • Assist the Head Chef with menu planning, ensuring that all menus are varied and offer a balanced diet and comply with the Company Minimum Food Standards.
  • Make sure all food is prepared with due care and attention, particularly in regard to pupil and staff’s special dietary requirements and any allergies that may affect our consumers.
  • Ensure all service staff are fully briefed before service commences and to have tasted the dishes on offer.
  • Liaise with your senior chefs regularly and effectively to ensure a smoothly run, high-volume kitchen.
  • Support and provide guidance and positive experiences for the junior chefs to learn from
  • Constantly seek and implement continuous improvement in quality, cost and effectiveness of the food production and service.

  • Take responsibility with your teammates for ensuring all areas are kept clean and tidy for health, safety and hygiene purposes
  • Ensure all equipment and utensils are cleaned using the Plate or Pot wash machines, spray arm, sinks and other cleaning equipment
  • Make sure all cleaned and dried items are returned to the correct storage location in good time for their next use
  • Ensure hand soap, paper rolls and cleaning chemicals are topped up regularly following your COSHH training
  • Notify Team Leaders or Chefs if you notice stock items in any area are running low
  • Empty bins and recycling containers safely and regularly
  • Sweep and mop floors as required using the appropriate tools, machines and signage

Sports Club Supervisor (Casual or Part-time)

Monkton Leisure is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Sports Club Supervisor to monitor all activities that take place in the Sports Club. Our facilities include a 25m indoor pool, gym and dance studio. You will provide a warm and welcoming service and engage with our customers to create a positive experience, with the aim of always striving to improve health and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will have a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and will be flexible to cover a range of shifts due to the nature of Monkton Leisure and activities that take place.

Recreational Assistant (Lifeguard)

We are looking for Recreation Assistants to work at Monkton Leisure to assist with the day to day operations of the Sports Centre and associated facilities to ensure users have the best possible experience in terms of enjoyment, safety and hygiene.

If you're calm under pressure, this is your chance to develop as a Lifeguard. The successful candidate will have integrity, a can-do attitude and a real focus on customer service. You will be a great team player with knowledge of health and safety legislation and a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
