Year 12 pupil Freddie P won Best MUN Delegate in the Science and Technology Committee at this year’s QuMUN 2025 conference.

The QuMUN Conference is one of the largest Model United Nations events in the country, bringing together up to 500 pupils from over 30 schools across England and Wales.

Delegates explore a wide range of current global challenges, from climate change and the obesity crisis to nuclear regulation, child workers’ rights, life below water and the ethical use of AI. Each student represents a UN member state, working within committees to draft, negotiate, and pass resolutions that reflect a balance of diverse international perspectives.

Representing Morocco, Freddie tackled the challenging and fast-moving topic of AI regulation in military use. He put forward thoughtful, well-reasoned points throughout the discussions and played a key part in helping a committee of more than 60 delegates reach an agreed resolution. This achievement highlights not only Freddie’s hard work but also his confidence in handling global issues and his ability to work collaboratively in a demanding academic environment.

Monkton’s delegation this year represented Morocco and Germany, with all students contributing thoughtfully and skilfully throughout the conference. Their ability to engage critically with complex topics and work collaboratively with peers from other schools is something we are extremely proud of. Freddie’s award is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the strength of our students’ curiosity, leadership, and global awareness.
