The Year 12 Gold Duke of Edinburgh cohort spent the first weekend of the Summer term in Dartmoor completing their training expedition. They spent 4 days navigating across the hills, rivers, tors and bogs of Dartmoor in what can only be described as very challenging weather conditions! Each group had the opportunity to wild camp high up on the moor, and they were given instruction on campcraft, navigation and general expedition skills.

All pupils showed fantastic resilience, and embraced the challenge of independent travel. Despite some very wet feet at the end of day 4, it was clear that the students were very proud of their effort and are now looking forward to the assessed expedition in July, which will see them tackle the mountains of Snowdonia.
