Senior Music

During the Lent half term break, members of our Senior School Music and Languages departments took a trip the the beautiful city of Paris. Not only were they able to see the sights, practice their conversational French skills and visit Disneyland, but our 'Jazz@Monkton' musicians also had the incredible opportunity to perform at 'Disney Performing Arts On Stage' as well as the 'Jardin du Luxembourg'.

One of our Year 13 students, Evie G, shared her musical memoirs along with some highlights from the trip:

"After motorways, service stations, roll-on-roll-off ferries and the Périphérique, we finally arrived at our hotel. With a generous lie-in until 7:30am, we breakfasted and set off for where the magic happens...Disneyland! Once we had arrived and passed through security, we were seemingly ready to go. However, there was just a small issue in that Owen had forgotten the one thing that he actually needed, which was his trombone. Luckily for Owen, Mr Hunt came to the rescue and brought his instrument from the hotel!  Trombonists eh?!"

"It was so amazing to perform in not only Disney’s centenary year, but on the large scale of Disney's Performing Arts On Stage after so many weeks of rehearsing.  The band was at the top of its game, and there were brilliant solos from so many players."
