Tell us a bit about yourself ...
I’m the founder of Studio Floc – an award winning, B Corp certified graphic design agency. I set the company up with two main goals in mind:
- To use graphic design to help make the world a better place.
- To create a working culture that enables our staff to flourish.
What is your profession?
I’m a graphic designer and creative director
What was your journey to that career path?
I started out at Chelsea College of Art to complete my year long Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. When starting the course, I didn’t know what area of art I wanted to specialise in. After trying many disciplines, I found a love for graphic design.
I then moved to Brighton University to study my three-year BA in Graphic Design. I spent most university holidays interning at design agencies to gain experience and help me decide whether graphic design was definitely the profession I wanted to pursue.
What inspires you?
Beautifully curated spaces, places and things!
How did Monkton help prepare you for your chosen career?
It has prepared me in two main ways:
Discipline! The 6:45am wake up day-in day-out, the compulsory physical exercise, the completion of prep on a nightly basis (to name a few) have all helped me to be a more disciplined – and I believe better – leader.
Although I didn’t find faith until I was 21, Monkton was the place where the kindness and love of Jesus was on display each day. Now, my Christian faith is the foundation on which I do life. With God I have taken far more risks and felt far less fear in my career than I could ever have done without Him.
My top tip for current pupils is…
Pursue a subject or vocation that you love because you’re going to spend a lot of time doing it.
