STRENGTHENING OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY
At Monkton, we believe in the power of strong partnerships and actively work to support and engage with our local community.
We are proud to host a range of fantastic events and dedicate our resources and staff time to benefit numerous local schools and community groups. Our collaborative work enriches the lives of those around us while providing invaluable service and development opportunities for our own pupils, reinforcing the spirit of service and engagement.
We lend our support and expertise in many practical ways, from providing First Aid training and lending our minibuses for sports travel, to offering specialist SEN provision support and running exciting outreach events that promote Music, English, Drama, and STEM subjects. This commitment ensures our resources benefit the wider community.
We regularly host an action packed Motorsport Day for local Years 5 and 6 pupils, filled with excitement. Activities range from testing reaction times and building rocket cars to tackling the pit stop challenge. Pupils also gain essential life skills by learning CPR, discovering the mechanics of steam engines, and even presenting the weather trackside using a green screen.
Our English and Drama departments joined forces to host Wild Shakespeare Day, giving local Primary pupils a fun, innovative, and hands on opportunity to explore Shakespeare. The sessions boosted pupils confidence in understanding his language, culminating in an atmospheric outdoor production of The Tempest performed by Monkton Senior pupils.
We have established a strong, sustainable partnership where every one of our Year 12 students will spend half a term volunteering at St Martin's Garden Primary. Our pupils are actively developing learning spaces, coaching sports, assisting with music lessons, and much more. This commitment serves to build even stronger links with our community and helps Monkton pupils fully understand the social responsibility that comes with growing up.
We are incredibly proud of the dedication of our staff and pupils in fostering these relationships, which are integral to the spirit of Monkton.
