Early Years (Nursery - Reception) | Monkton Combe

Early Years

Whether your child joins us at Nursery (age 2-3) Kindergarten (age 3-4) or for the Reception year (age 4-5), their experience is magical.

The creativity and commitment of our specialist Early Years teachers are exceptional. They know each child deeply, and work in partnership with parents to support and grow each individual.

Our beautiful Hodges building is designed with exploration in mind and beyond that there is so much opportunity to play outdoors.

The children revel in our truly spectacular outdoor spaces, enjoying our dedicated early years play areas, building dens, engaging with our own farm, and developing the physical skills that are so essential at this age.

Play-based learning sits at the heart of everything the children do, and the educational qualities it builds are outstanding. It means imagining, inventing, trying, problem solving, challenging, negotiating, reading, building and so much more…

Your child's ownership of their choices and the freedom to pursue something where they want to take it grows a deep love of learning. This all sits within a structured educational framework that is tailored to their development.

Literacy and numeracy are foundational and specialist PE provision to support physical coordination begins in the Nursery. We harness their facility for language acquisition, beginning French in Kindergarten and throughout we focus on their social and emotional development: learning how to listen, collaborate, take turns and be kind.

Monkton Early Years provides a foundation every child should have. It has to be seen to be believed, so do come and visit.
