Day Pupils at Monkton Prep

Day Pupils at Monkton

The majority of our pupils are day pupils, but we offer an age-appropriate "boarding ethos" experience that grows with your child, creating deeper connections and building their confidence.

In Reception, the school day ends at 3.15pm, with the option to stay for any of the clubs on offer.

From Year 1 onwards, lessons end at 4.15pm, with co-curricular clubs running till 5.30pm. and our pupils participate with enthusiasm.

For Year 7 & 8s their provision includes the option to come in for breakfast and stay for supper. This gives greater flexibility to parents, but also marks a stepping stone towards adolescence and slightly increased independence, all in a supportive and safe environment.

Houses

Each child in Year 3-8 becomes part of one of our four houses. They compete as a house in all sorts of house competitions, from cross country, hockey, rugby, netball and sports day to House Music and even sometimes house conkers! This provides another layer of connection to pupils in different year groups, and our older pupils take great pride in looking after the younger ones, and in being role models.

Boarding Opportunities

The opportunities for the fun of boarding start at the Prep. Year 5-8 boarders and day pupils congregate for a summer campout together, using our beautiful grounds for a night of fun and adventure.

In Year 6, every child has an included boarding night each term, rising to three per term for Year 7 & 8. And our boarding house, Hatton, invites each year group to join them for a sleepover each year, joining in all the fun of the weekend, including some amazing trips and activities, such as Legoland or the Hatton Olympics!
