If you are ready to embark on the next stage of your child’s educational journey at Monkton, our friendly team of admissions professionals would be delighted to guide you through each step of our admissions process.

We welcome children into Monkton at various different ages and year groups, however at times some year groups may have a waiting list. 

Please complete this enquiry form to register your interest and the relevant member of the team will be in touch to begin guiding you and your child through the admissions journey. They will be your main point of contact throughout the admissions process, working collaboratively with you and your child and supporting you, offering advice and answering any queries you may have.

Nursery to Year 4 Admissions

Admissions Steps for children entering Nursery to Year 4:

  1. Book a visit. This could be an Open Day or an individual visit (please contact Dani to arrange this).
  2. Complete a registration form to formally apply for a place for your child and pay a non-refundable £100 registration fee.
  3. We then request a reference from your child’s current setting and ask that you send us a copy of their latest academic report, as well as any medical or SEN reports which we may need to be aware of (if applicable.)
  4. Children entering Year 1 and upwards complete a short writing task. Children entering Year 2 and upwards complete an online CAT4 assessment also.
  5. Taster days: Following a review of your child’s documents by Miss Whittingham (Assistant Head: Early Years) your child will be invited to attend up to two taster days.
  6. Offer: If successful, an offer of place will usually be sent within two weeks following your child’s final taster day. 
  7. Joining documents will be sent to you at the beginning of June with details of uniform, induction day, etc.
  8. Your child will be invited to a Move Up Morning in July during which they can meet their new teacher, engage with their classmates and spend time in their classroom, prior to their start in September.

Year 5 to 8 Admissions

 Admissions Steps for children entering Years 5 to 8:

  1. Book a visit. This could be an Open Day or an individual visit (please contact Jane to arrange this).
  2. Complete a registration form to formally apply for a place for your child and pay a non-refundable £100 registration fee.
  3. We then request a reference from your child’s current setting and ask that you send us a copy of their latest academic report, as well as any medical or SEN reports which we may need to be aware of (if applicable.)
  4. Your child will complete an online CAT4 assessment and a written task.
  5. Taster days: Following a review of your child’s documents by Mr Champness (Deputy Head: Academics) prospective day pupils will be invited to attend two consecutive taster days and boarders will be invited to spend two nights in Hatton House (in addition to their two taster days).
  6. Offer: If successful, an offer of place will usually be sent within two weeks following your child’s final taster day. 
  7. Joining documents will be sent to you at the beginning of June with details of uniform, induction day, etc.
  8. Your child will be invited to a Move Up Morning in July during which they can meet their new teacher, engage with their classmates and spend time in their classroom, prior to their start in September.

Year 9 to 13 Admissions

 Admissions Steps for non international students entering Years 9 to 13:

  1. Book a visit. This could be an Open Day or an individual visit (please contact Rebecca to arrange this).
  2. Complete a registration form to formally apply for a place for your child and pay a non-refundable £100 registration fee.
  3. We then request a reference from your child’s current setting and ask that you send us a copy of their latest academic report, as well as any medical or SEN reports which we may need to be aware of (if applicable.)
  4. Your child will complete an online CAT4 assessment
  5. Interview: Following a review of your child’s documents by our Deputy Heads, your child will be invited to interview. This will either be in person or online.
  6. Offer: If successful, an offer of place will usually be sent within 2 weeks following your child’s interview. Any place offered to an incoming Year 12 student is subject to them obtaining a minimum of 6 in all of the GCSE subjects taken. Please note that to study certain AS subjects, a minimum grade at GCSE in that subject may be a prerequisite.

Year 9 to 13 Admissions for International Pupils

Admissions Steps for international students entering years 9 to 13:

  1. Book a visit. This could be an Open Day or an individual visit (please contact Hannah to arrange this).
  2. Complete a registration form to formally apply for a place for your child and pay a non-refundable £100 registration fee.
  3. We then request a reference from your child’s current setting and ask that you send us a copy of their latest academic report, as well as any medical or SEN reports which we may need to be aware of (if applicable.)
  4. Your child will complete an online CAT4 assessment and an English assessment paper
  5. Interview: Following a review of your child’s documents by our Deputy Heads, your child will be invited to interview. This will either be in person or online.
  6. Offer: If successful, an offer of place will usually be sent within 2 weeks following your child’s interview. Any place offered to an incoming Year 12 student is subject to them obtaining a minimum of 6 in all of the GCSE subjects taken. Please note that to study certain AS subjects, a minimum grade at GCSE in that subject may be a prerequisite.
  7. After accepting your offer, Hannah will support you with your visa requirements.
