On 20th March, Monkton Combe School Boat Club took two Boys 8s to The Schools Head of The River Race in London. With over 200 crews entered, this is one of the biggest rowing events in the calendar and gives schools and clubs a chance to test themselves against the best crews in the country.

Monkton's 1st VIII, consisting of James, Toby, Izaac, Ethan, Thomas, Alex, Isaac, Ed and coxed by Evie, was first down the famous 6.8km Oxford and Cambridge boat race course. They had a very solid row, powering to a 9th place finish in the 1st 8 category in a very respectable time of 18:02. Next up was Ben, Noah, Ben, Mo, Ed, Henry, Jack and Noah in the Boys 2nd 8 category. They had a great row, finishing 17th in their event, only 1 minute behind the first 8 - not bad considering half the crew only learnt to row in September!

Well done to both crews.
