Informing in an ever-changing world
Monkton Prep is well-equipped to inform its pupils on the importance of ICT in our society today. The school has 35 workstations in its computer suite, with another 60 throughtout the school. All teaching rooms have an electronic whiteboard and a broadband connection to the Internet. The vast majority of the computers are PCs using Office 2010, and there are some Apple Macs in the Art Department.
Information and Communications Technology is taught mainly as a tool to equip pupils to be able to use computers competently across the curriculum. Pupils learn topics including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, PowerPoint, graphics, web design, simple programming and internet safety. Children in Years 3-6 have two lessons a week, pupils in Year 7 a single lesson. All pupils have a school email address.
