Early Years Key Worker

Salary:  £12.50 - £14.50 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Hours of work: The hours for this role Thursdays 8am-6pm and Friday 8am-4pm
Start Date: September 2025

We are seeking to appoint a part time Key Worker to our growing Early Years Team. We are looking for someone who is comfortable, enthusiastic and passionate about being responsible for helping young children feel safe and cared for in a nurturing environment. In this role you will be responsible for observing and developing pupils' learning within our Early Years team (in either Nursery, children aged 2 turning 3 or Kindergarten, children aged 3 turning 4), supporting the Early Years Room Leader. You will work with the team to plan activities, circle times and next steps to support children’s ongoing development. You will hold a Level 2, or ideally a Level 3, Early Years qualification (or have qualified teacher status, ideally with Early Years experience) and will be looking to work in a school that grows fruitful people through innovation and a commitment to professional growth, and prioritises positive relationships.

For any candidates who are interested in picking up additional work in the school holidays, there is an option to support with our holiday provision via our Leisure Centre - Monkton Minis and Muckers. One to One Learning Support Assistant (Senior School)

Monkton are looking to appoint a One to One Learning Support Assistant, who will assist in providing a more effective teaching programme for a named pupil in Year 9. You will work with the support of the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, the pastoral team, and the school as a whole.

The post holder is responsible to the Special Needs Co-ordinator. Recent legislation and guidance makes it clear that the roles of teacher and support staff are not interchangeable.  Accountability for the overall learning outcomes rests with the teacher.

  • To assist the teacher to deliver the curriculum to children who have an individual target outcome plan (TOP) 
  • To assist in the formulation and implementation of individual  plans as directed by the SENCO in line with school policy

Sports Administrator

Hours of Work: Term Time Only

Monday to Friday 9.00am - 3.00pm and Saturday 9.00am to 12.00pm 

Flexibility in hours may be required on occasion to meet the needs of the Sports Department.

 

Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of the Heads of Sport, to help confirm inter school fixtures and  competition entries, to include the production of the termly Fixtures List and match day programmes. 
  • To manage the Director of Sports' diary and inbox 
  • To manage the Heads of Sports' diaries
  • To attend Heads of Sports meetings to take minutes and follow up with relevant tasks
  • To enter sports fixtures into the sports module in the SOCS School Calendar which feeds to the results page of the website and to keep this regularly updated 
  • To arrange the transport required by Heads of Sport for fixtures
  • Coordinate match day catering for both home and away teams with the catering department. 
  • To ensure that parents and any other relevant parties are informed of cancellations as soon as they happen, and that fixtures are rearranged where appropriate. 
  • To liaise closely with all departments, including teaching staff responsible for coaching teams, to ensure that all information is gathered on time to fulfil all aspects of the role.
  • To assist the Director of Sport and Heads of Sport with the organisation and management of feeder Prep School Festivals and Tournaments. 
  • To manage the ordering and distribution of staff sports kit through our supplier (Limitless) and our HR department
  • To liaise with transport, grounds, sewing room and catering on a regular basis to ensure relevant facilities available.
  • To ensure that student progress is reported to parents by the correct member of staff Support Director and Assistant Director of Sport as required for example with Colours, Sports Dinner, Risk Assessments etc.
  • To assist with any further administrative tasks as directed by the Director of Sport
  • To work with finances to raise purchase orders

What you’ll do as a Kitchen Porter:

  • Take responsibility with your teammates for ensuring all areas are kept clean and tidy for health, safety and hygiene purposes
  • Ensure all equipment and utensils are cleaned using the Plate or Pot wash machines, spray arm, sinks and other cleaning equipment
  • Make sure all cleaned and dried items are returned to the correct storage location in good time for their next use
  • Ensure hand soap, paper rolls and cleaning chemicals are topped up regularly following your COSHH training
  • Notify Team Leaders or Chefs if you notice stock items in any area are running low
  • Empty bins and recycling containers safely and regularly
  • Sweep and mop floors as required using the appropriate tools, machines and signage

Monkton is seeking to appoint a dedicated and professional nurse to join our small, hardworking and friendly medical centre team working across the whole school.

The aim of the role is to support pupils’ health and wellbeing so that they can fully participate in school life and provide health care to members of the school community. In both areas, the medical centre team strives to develop and maintain positive and mutually supportive relationships with the wider school community, particularly those at the core of our exceptional pastoral care.

Our nurses work on a shift basis across both sites and therefore a flexible approach to this is essential. Due to the nature of the role, and in keeping with the nature of an Independent Boarding School, hours of work can include evenings and weekends.

Swimming Coach

Start date: ASAP 

One year fixed-term contract, Term-time only, Part-time

Hours of work: Tuesday 7am-8am, Wednesday 10.15am-11.00am, 1.45pm-3.15pm, and Saturday 7.00am-8.30am.

Salary: £20 per hour 

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated swim coach to join a hard working and friendly Sports Department as they continue driving sport forward with a whole school approach. The successful candidate will be an exceptional coach required to assist with Swimming sessions for a range of age groups from Reception through to our Senior School students in our Monkton Leisure Centre based at the Monkton Prep School. The aim of this role is to assist with swimming coaching across our School swim squad and Reception to Year 2 classes.

This position would report to and work alongside our Head of Individual Sport, Head of Swimming Development as well as the Head of PE, to deliver Swimming coaching to a range of year groups.

Swim Squad is our extra-curricular Swimming provision for students from Year 3 to Year 13 and the working hours for this will be Tuesday morning 7.00am-8.00am and Saturday morning 7.00am-8.00am (with S&C from 8.00am to 8.30am) with the potential to occasionally support with some Monday evening sessions. There are also 2 lessons for year 9 PE on a Friday afternoon, just during the Michaelmas and Lent terms.

For this role we will also be looking for someone to support and coach our Reception - Year 2 Swimming lessons on a Wednesday which take place from 10.15am-11.00am and 1.45pm-3.15pm.These sessions will involve teaching a group of students of mixed ability to work on and improve their Swimming skills.

Commercial Swimming Teacher

Swim Teacher

£20 per hour (Assistant Swim Teacher £14.08 per hour)

Casual hours, to start as soon as available

We are seeking a qualified Swim Teacher to teach a range of aquatic skills for both individual and group lessons using the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming. You would work with the Head of Swimming Development to develop and improve both the Swim School programme and the private lesson programme.

You might also be asked to support as an Assistant Swim Teacher as and when the need arises.

Specific duties:

  • To work with groups and individual swimmers to help them achieve the aims required by the National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS)
  • Undertaking administrative duties such as grading or taking payments for private lessons to support the delivery of an effective programme
  • Developing positive relationships with class participants, other teachers and guardians

We are seeking to appoint a number of Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) for the forthcoming academic year, starting in August 2025, on a 12 month fixed term contract at Monkton Senior School, set in the beautiful Midford valley on the outskirts of Bath.

Graduate Teaching Assistants are seen as an important part of the Pastoral and Academic teams at Monkton.  This is an exciting opportunity to explore and gain experience of working with young people, ages 13-18 years, in a supportive environment and allow you to decide if teaching or pastoral care is the right career path for you. You will have the opportunity to get involved with various activities during the school day, such as supporting in a classroom environment and covering lessons, supporting and supervising sport lessons and other extracurricular activities, to be resident on site, and to help care for the boarders after the academic day has finished and at the weekends.

Previous GTAs have gone on to a variety of careers including (but not limited to) SCITT and PGCE courses, counselling or church leadership - the perfect springboard for many different types of careers. We have a number of previous GTAs who are still working with us here at Monkton in a variety of roles!
