Carpenter/Handy Person - Full time

Monkton Combe School is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced full time Carpenter/Handyperson to join our team to carry out maintenance work as instructed by the Maintenance Manager at the whole School, Senior, Prep and Pre-Prep sites.
 
Remuneration and benefits include:
Salary of up to £20,384 per annum

Specific duties will include but are not limited too;
1.              General carpentry, hanging doors, building and repairing stud partitions, decorating etc.
2.              Constructing new timber-built items, roof repairs, new windows, and fitting on site.  Assembly and fitting of ironmongery and metalwork fittings.
3.              Operating woodworking machinery, setting out and assembly of joinery items.
4.              General building work, glazing, simple plumbing, concrete and plaster work etc.
5.              Roof repairs, tiling, fitting and maintaining gutters etc.
6.              Foundations and drain laying, damp-proofing and below ground works.
7.              Erection and use of aluminium scaffold towers etc.
8.              Decorating, wall tiling and general finishing to new works.
9.              Other duties as required from time-to-time supporting other staff.

Graduate Teaching Assistants, Prep School – To start in September 2019

Monkton is seeking to appoint energetic and dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistants for the forthcoming academic year.

To be successful you will be flexible, enthusiastic and independent.  We welcome a diverse range of experience as we encourage you to share your passions with the pupils.  Coaching games is a key feature of the role so a strong sporting background in the main core sports is essential.    

Monkton Prep School is located in the beautiful Midford valley within walking distance of Bath. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience of working with young people in a school environment, and would especially suit those who are considering a career in teaching or working with children.  We offer the opportunity to experience all aspects of boarding school life, the daily routine of a busy school within the classroom, on the sports field and throughout the co-curricular activities which take place on site.

A successful candidate will become an important member of our pastoral and academic staff team, working with them to provide our pupils with the best educational experience. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in classroom lessons
  • Coaching during sports and games lessons
  • Pastoral duties in support of Teachers and House Parents
  • Involvement in co-curricular activities, school productions and trips
  • Supervisory responsibilities during school breaks and lunch times, and for after school care

This is a residential full time position for a 12 month fixed term contract.  You will be expected to work full school hours including Saturday morning school with additional boarding responsibilities during evenings and weekends during term time on a rota basis. You will receive half a day off per week and free weekend time on a rota basis, and a salary of £11,500 per annum with free school accommodation and board.

Assistant ICT Network Manager

This is an exciting role working closely with the Director of Digital Learning and ICT Network Manager to impact the strategic direction of ICT Services across a large site, consisting of three schools. Monkton is in the middle of a significant cycle of investment in IT and this is part of expanding our support for this investment.  We are looking to appoint an experienced candidate who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and is able to deliver a first class support service, taking an increasing responsibility for the management of the network.
 
The role would suit a talented and committed individual with a ‘hands-on’ approach to their work and experience of working across platforms. They would help lead a committed team of technicians, who enjoy a very varied role with tasks ranging from providing classroom support, to developing and administering the network and server infrastructure.  They will also need to be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and students with differing levels of IT skills.

Salary of between £25,006.78 to £30,525.76 per annum depending on qualifications and experience at the time of appointment.

Monkton Combe School is situated in a beautiful area just south of Bath.
We are looking for new recruits to join our current team of experienced chefs to give our customers an outstanding experience and contribute to quality meals prepared using healthy, fresh, responsibly sourced food.
 
The School has a varied menu which includes breakfast, lunches and suppers as well as a variety of weddings, formal dinners and residential lets throughout the year.   

We’re looking for people who are:

A minimum of 2 years’ experience within a similar role would be desirable as we provide around 9000 meals per week during term time across our two sites plus a wide range of hospitality events.

We work shift patterns that include evenings and weekends. Our permanent roles are Independent School term time plus a minimum 4 additional weeks to cover functions during the holidays. Casual and part-time weekend jobs are available for Front-of-House roles.
This is not "school catering" as anyone unfamiliar with our sector may think.
