Graduate Teaching Assistants, Senior School – To start in September 2019

Monkton is seeking to appoint a number of high calibre Graduate Teaching Assistants for the forthcoming academic year, starting in September 2019, on a 12 month fixed term contract for our Senior School, set in the beautiful Midford valley on the outskirts of Bath.  In addition, we also have opportunities to commence in January 2019, and to run until the 31st August 2019 or August 2020 depending on the candidate.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience of working with young people in a supportive Christian ethos school environment, and would especially suit those who are interested in playing an active role within the schools Christian union and bible study groups and are thinking of teaching as a future career and are looking to experience all aspects of boarding school life.

We are interested in hearing from applicants with a diverse range of areas of interest and expertise, however successful candidates should offer skills and support in any of the following areas:

  • Games coaching. 
    • Boys Games: Rugby, Hockey, Rowing and Cricket
    • Girls Games: Hockey, Netball, Rowing and Tennis.

Successful candidates will play a key role in supporting the pastoral and academic staff in providing our pupils with the best experience and will undertake pastoral duties in the support of House parents and provide support and/or cover in all areas of the school, which may include but is not limited to:

  • Chaplain and the general Christian work of the school
  • School’s IT centre
  • School’s Learning Support Department
  • School’s Music Centre
  • Art and Photography

Working full time hours, successful candidates should expect to work evenings and weekends during term time, and in return we offer 1 day off per week during term time, and a salary of £11,500 per annum plus free school accommodation and board. 

Interview days are currently scheduled for Thursday 23rd and Thursday 30th November 2018, however future dates are also available.

Sports Club Supervisor, Casual Hours Contract

Monkton Leisure is seeking to appoint a Sports Club Supervisor on a casual hour’s basis, to commence as soon as possible. It is expected that the successful candidate will be required to work mostly on the weekends, however flexibility to also be available during the week, days and evenings is essential due to the nature of the business.

For the right candidate, opportunities to pick up shifts in other areas such as our popular and successful Monkton Mini’s and Muckers holiday clubs are available and can be discussed at interview.

Terms and conditions:

Hourly rate is £13.98 per hour for weekends and £9.64 for weekday shifts

Head Grounds and Gardens Manager, Full time and Permanent

Monkton has an exciting opportunity for an accomplished and motivated professional Head Grounds and Gardens Manager to lead our small but exceptional team. Reporting to the Assistant Bursar, you will primarily be responsible for the upkeep of a multiplicity of grass sports pitches, mainly used for Rugby Cricket, Tennis and Athletics. As well as the grass pitches we also have two high quality Astro turf pitches used for Hockey and Tennis which require regular maintenance.

In addition, the successful candidate will come with strong supervisory and team management experience and will as part of the wider team ensure, together with the Assistant Gardens Manager and Assistant Ground Manager, with a pride and passion for ensuring the schools beautiful gardens, gardens and excellent sports pitches are maintained and presented to an exceptional standard throughout the year. They will have a vision for the landscape of the estates and will lead and drive the team to deliver the vision.

Catering Vacancies

Monkton Combe School is situated in a beautiful area just south of Bath.
We are looking for new recruits to join our current team of experienced chefs to give our customers an outstanding experience and contribute to quality meals prepared using healthy, fresh, responsibly sourced food.
 
The School has a varied menu which includes breakfast, lunches and suppers as well as a variety of weddings, formal dinners and residential lets throughout the year.   

We’re looking for people who are:

A minimum of 2 years’ experience within a similar role would be desirable as we provide around 9000 meals per week during term time across our two sites plus a wide range of hospitality events.

We work shift patterns that include evenings and weekends. Our permanent roles are Independent School term time plus a minimum 4 additional weeks to cover functions during the holidays. Casual and part-time weekend jobs are available for Front-of-House roles.
This is not "school catering" as anyone unfamiliar with our sector may think. We offer a contemporary high street range of dishes and are continuously looking to adapt our offer to emerging trends and customer tastes. Casual Monkton Minis & Muckers Assistant

We are seeking an Assistant to help with the day to day running of the Monkton Mini’s and Muckers.  This is a holiday play scheme for 4 – 8 and 8 – 14 year old children.  The successful applicant should have previous experience of working with children.
