Our Facilities

The Prep School

Our Prep School can be found at Combe Down and has the most impressive views over rolling countryside across the Midford Valley.

The 30-acre site offers children at Monkton Prep a wide range of activities and the chance to discover what inspires and excites them. As well as an onsite swimming pool, the grounds have two and a half state-of-the-art astro pitches, a golf course, sports pitches and a woodland teepee area, creating many unique opportunities for both outdoor learning and outdoor fun, from building dens to cooking on the barbecue.

The Senior School

Set in a breath-taking valley in the outskirts of Bath, Monkton offers students an outstanding learning environment.

Situated just a mile from the cultural diversity and opportunity of a World Heritage City, the School lies in the heart of the village of Monkton Combe. Nestling in the Midford Valley it is surrounded by rolling hills and woodland. Monkton offers students the outdoor space and sporting facilities typical of a traditional country boarding school.

We are continually investing in our infrastructure providing first class sports facilities that include a sports centre, swimming pool, all weather hockey pitch, grass and artificial tennis courts, rugby pitches, squash courts, a boat house on the River Avon and a cricket ground voted into the Wisden top three most picturesque cricket grounds in the country.

Opened in 2012, our music centre is equipped with a stunning rehearsal hall with superb acoustics and a Steinway Model B grand piano, twelve sound-proofed teaching and practice rooms, a music library, a suite of Apple Mac composing workstations and a purpose built recording studio suite and production room, including air conditioned and fully sound-proofed percussion studios.

The Basson Art and Design Centre opened in 2016 and is a hub for both technical excellence and creative inspiration. The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with a large multipurpose exhibition area and dedicated areas for printmaking, textiles, photography and CAD and provides an environment which brings out the best in pupils in these subjects. These pupils have enjoyed huge success, with many moving on to top art schools including Central St Martins, London College of Fashion, Goldsmiths and Bristol Old Vic.
