Girls boarding house
James and Mairion Goodman are the houseparents of Clarendon House. They are keen to continue the warm and welcoming atmosphere established by their predecessors Lilian and Pierre Marais. They want Clarendon House to be a place where every individual feels loved and valued and is able to achieve their best in whatever area of school life that might be, as well helping to prepare them for life beyond Monkton.
Mairion has been working with young people for 20 years, most recently as Associate Vicar of Redland Parish Church in Bristol and leaves that role to use her pastoral skills with the girls in Clarendon. James started teaching Maths at Monkton in September and was previously at Monkton as a pupil when Clarendon House was opened. Since then he studied Maths at Oxford and has taught for 15 years in Bristol and New Zealand. He's been involved with coaching girls and boys hockey, and has had pastoral responsibilities both at Monkton and previously. Mairion enjoys music and drama which is complemented by James' passion of all sport and gardening and they have a mutual love of the outdoors. They have three children who are all thriving at Monkton Prep and Pre-Prep and relish welcoming 60 girls into their family!
