All pupils should be competent performers at school team level and be interested in watching, reading about and discussing sport. The theory and practical sections are very much interlinked. In the theory modules, students will study anatomy and physiology, physical training, movement analysis, psychological factors affecting performance, health and safety issues, factors affecting participation, sociocultural and contemporary sporting issues. The practical sessions focus on development of skills, analysis of performance and developing sport related fitness.
At A Level:
The A Level course focuses on a great variety of topics. Applied anatomy and physiology, Skill acquisition, Sport and society, Exercise physiology, Biomechanical movement, Sport psychology, Sport and society and the role of technology in physical activity and sport. The course is applied daily to the sporting world and really brings the subject to life. We gain a great insight into the workings of sport at participation level through to elite level.
