Providing medical care for our pupils
The Medical Centre provides care for children and staff at the Prep School.
We have two qualified nurses who are on duty on a rota system. Mrs Julia Handel, RGN and Mrs Sue Graham, RGN have a wealth of experience and are supported by the team at University Medical Centre in Combe Down. The Medical Centre is staffed from 08.00am-18.00pm Monday–Saturday. The nurses are also on duty some evenings with other members of the Hatton House Boarding Team to provide continuity of care for pupils who board.
Pupils visiting the Medical Centre
Pupils may visit the Medical Centre during surgery hours which coincide with break times, we encourage pupils not to leave lessons to visit unless sent by a member of staff. It is important that pupils bring their journal with them so that we can document any treatment or problems so parents know if medication has been given. It is also useful for staff to know if a pupil has been seen by the nurses. Out of surgery hours, all children attending the Medical Centre are required to report to reception. Our reception team can then ensure that there is a nurse in the Medical Centre.
