Reflecting beliefs and faith at Monkton
It is the aim of the Department to create an enjoyable, well-disciplined and lively learning environment. Religious Studies is taught by specialists from Years 5 to 8. Common Entrance and Scholarship exams are taken in Year 8. The department uses as its main texts the Lion Children's Bible, the NIV, the Good News Bible and Religious Studies for Common Entrance (Grenfell).
The Religious Studies department reflects in its teaching and ethos the beliefs and faith to which Monkton Combe School is committed, standing as it does within the evangelical tradition of the Church of England. Priority is given to the study of the Bible in all year groups thus seeking to enable pupils to link classroom study to the Christian way of living.
