Allowing children to receive the help they need
We strive to identify children who require learning support as early as possible so that we can design an education provision which suits them from day one. Through the use of Individual Education Plans, we provide a programme of support, referral and teaching techniques that allow children to receive the help they need quickly and effectively. These plans are developed in consultation with the child's parents, tutor and teachers.
For some, the help given is on an individual basis. For others, group work is more appropriate. We are keen to provide in-class support where possible, allowing children to take a full part in the normal day-to-day lessons alongside their peers. We liaise with outside agencies when necessary to ensure that help given is appropriate. The staff in the department are well-qualified and dedicated teachers who specialise in Learning Support.
Although we do not have an entrance qualification to the School, we do assess children before they come to Monkton Prep to ensure that we can provide the education that they need.
