Art is taught to all children at Monkton Prep and visitors often comment on the children's creative work which is displayed throughout the school.
The key areas of aesthetics, perception, technique and expression form the backbone of teaching in Art. As a child moves through the School, they develop skills with, and appreciation of, an increasing variety of media. They work on shape, line and pattern allied to colour and observe both what they see around them but also what artists have done in the past. Opportunities are available to explore art work using a huge range of materials and textures.
As they progress through the School, pupils are encouraged to develop their own personal style using a sketchbook and by exploring mixed media art. All pupils can produce large-scale work of many different styles. Check out some of the pupils work in the art gallery!
