An exceptional learning experience

Pre-Prep pupilsMonkton believes that children can achieve their best academically when they are excited and engaged in their learning and our Creative Curriculum puts children’s engagement right at the heart of our education.

The Creative Curriculum is creative learning planned by creative teachers, using creative approaches and creative resources.

This level of creativity is what wills the children to do their very best every day and enthuses them to the point where learning goes beyond the school gates. No task is without purpose, and each string of the National Curriculum is cleverly interwoven into topics that provide the breadth to teach a range of subjects in an engaging way. Our Curriculum provides the very best: texts, visitors, experts, school trips, use of extensive grounds and resources to enable each child to create meaningful links between all subject areas.

The secret to our success at Monkton Pre-Prep is that our curriculum focuses on teaching children how to learn. With the help of ‘Key Learning Skills’ we are able to produce a ‘whole’ learner. A learner who is able to: build learning relationships, question and investigate, think imaginatively, persevere, reflect, make connections and reason. Introduced to children in Reception and consolidated throughout Key Stage 1, these skills are paramount in order to become high achieving individuals. We are fortunate to say that by the time our children reach Year 2, they are able to learn independently, collaboratively, and with confidence.
