Under 11s Hockey triumph

Monday, 08 February 2016

What a brilliant day of hockey last Friday 5th February. The Under 11s qualified for the National IAPS finals! The team went undefeated throughout the day and drew with both eventual finalists in the group stages. The first match was a solid 2-0 victory over Taunton Prep, the second was a 3-0 win over Port Regis and the last group game was a 1-1 draw against Dumpton.

These results took Monkton through to the main cup competition.

After lunch, Monkton were back on against Bristol Grammar School and won 1-0 in a tense game. Next up, it was Kingswood and the boys won 2-0 in a convincing victory. The last game of the day to decide who went through to the semi finals was against Chafyn Grove. Both teams were on two victories from the cup group stage but Chafyn had a better goal difference. The boys really dug deep and played out an extremely competitive 0-0. This meant Chafyn progressed as they had the better goal difference but Monkton qualified for the Nationals as the 5th place team.

Congratulations to all the squad they should be extremely proud of what they have achieved. It was a fantastic team effort.  We look forward to some more from them in the finals.
