Under 11s County Hockey Champions!

Sunday, 28 February 2016

What an afternoon of hockey!

The boys were fantastic and played five tricky matches against strong opposition.

Each player made a difference and added to the overall victory. The will to win was balanced with the want to play fast, attacking hockey and overall the boys
dug deep to find the results needed and took the crown as county champions for the second year in a row.

For those who weren't able to be there....the first match was a solid 2-0 win over Kingswood. This was the forth time we have played each other in tournaments this season.

Next up was Bristol Grammar School, who took the lead and the boys showed great character to come back and level it 1-1. We managed to hit both posts during the game, that is not easy!

Our third game was against the Paragon and we avoided the potential banana skin with a strong 3-0 win.

After a shaky start against Clifton College the boys soon got back into the swing and played their best hockey of the day to win 2-0.

Our last game was against KES and the boys knew they had to score goals, goals, goals to win the competition. 4-0  at the final whistle was enough to give them the Championship.

At the time of writing the team remain unbeaten and have only conceded 3 goals all season. This is down to their collective work ethic in training and the want to improve themselves as players and as a team.

My point to them at the end of today was, they should feel extremely proud of what they have achieved through the hard work that they have put in. Last Sunday's training session in the howling wind and rain is a great example of this. Nothing great is easy.

Thank you again for your continued support from the sidelines today on a very cold afternoon. I know the boys all wanted to show you what they could achieve.

Thank you to Mr Ross for his umpiring, support and encouragement to all.

We look forward to the All Hallows game tomorrow and the tour next weekend!
