Results Day Joy and Celebration

Thursday, 13 August 2015

Results Day was a day of joy and celebration for pupils at Monkton again this year with more than 93% of grades at A*-C, and more than a third at A* or A.

All candidates with offers for Oxford and Cambridge met their targets and pupils will disperse to many of the UK’s top universities including Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, Imperial, Exeter, Nottingham and Cardiff.

Five pupils gained two A* grades or more, and Dan Mangles, off to study Engineering at Oxford, and Matthew Watling Read, who is going to Cambridge to read Natural Sciences, both gained four A* grades.

The Maths department was particularly successful with 26 of their 29 candidates (90%) scoring an A*, A or B grade.

Deputy Head Academic, Joe Sidders, commented: “Against a backdrop of the tightening of A level standards, our pupils have really held their own, and shown that our work to promote independent learning skills has served our pupils well”.
