Chemistry Students visit Bath Uni
Thursday, 26 January 2017
Students had a great time experiencing undergraduate Chemistry labs at Bath University. They got to carry out an esterification reaction using a Microwave Reactor. Most of their time was then spent purifying and separating out the product. Which they were able to analyse with IR Spectroscopy and NMR Spectroscopy. Some seemed to have been highly successful in making their product while others seems to have significant amounts of starting material remaining. As well as allowing the students to experience what an undergraduate lab session might be like some free time gave them the opportunity to explore the campus and even find a large supply of Korean Noddles to replenish supplies at school.
