Week 2 at Monkton has gone by in a flash with so many exciting events happening every day. Thankfully we have had fabulous weather, making it possible for us to play outside after supper.
The highlight of the week had to be the tour of Britain coming past Monkton. The whole school went to watch at the end of the drive and it was so exciting to see all the cyclists whizz by. It was all over so quickly, but a great experience. The atmosphere was buzzing as we were all provided with flags, bunting and balloons to support all the racers. I even saw Sir Bradley Wiggins.
That afternoon there was also year 5 and 6 cross-country against local schools. Monkton did really well and we cheered all the runners this time! We all had a great time watching Mr Goode and Mr Coombe being chased around the course as they were the hares, we were all very proud of the Monkton runners doing so well.
On Wednesday evening, the kitchens prepared a wonderful Tapas meal for us all . Salmon, Chicken wings, Olives and Freshly made bread were only a small part of the delightful food on offer. Our resident Spanish boarders, Gonzalo and Nuria had an especially good time and gave it a big thumbs up!
The Hatton house boys had a very successful weekend of rugby matches. All the boys were excited to play their first game of the season. Saturday night was spent listening to how well they had played and chilling with tuck in front of a film.
Sunday saw us heading to church before a top roast dinner. In the afternoon, we all headed into Rainbow woods opposite the school to enjoy the Bath skyline walk. It was great walking as a group as it is just the sort of thing that families do on a Sunday afternoon. We are one big family in Hatton and it certainly felt that way with Mrs Fry’s dog Bumble keeping everyone in check! The highlight of the afternoon was having our picnic cream tea in the sunshine.
On the way back to school we played games in the woods and had a chance for a swim before supper. What a great weekend it was. We are really looking forward to Bowood House next Sunday.
