Early Years Exemption
Information for parents
Monkton Combe School is registered for Early Years Exemption (EYE) through Bath and North East Somerset Council.
EYE is childcare funding from the Government, available to all children aged 3 and 4. The funding begins from the term after your child’s third birthday and lasts until they start school at the statutory age.
Our registration allows us to offer our parents 15 hours per week of funding at the BANES basic provision rate
Monkton Combe early years provision extends beyond a basic level of provision and therefore our rates are higher than the BANES rate. Our rates for 2023-24 can be found here.
Monkton prides itself on the service level it offers in its early years education provision which includes additional enrichment activities and specialist tuition.
The list of additional items and services provided by Monkton over the basic level of provision is extensive and includes the following:
- Specialist tuition with qualified teachers in the areas of:
- Outdoor education
- Access to the main school facilities including the dining hall, performing arts centre and outdoor facilities
In addition, Monkton’s early years offering provides enhanced service levels through the use of:
- Qualified teaching staff
- Staff to child ratios well in excess of regulated requirements; and
- Provision of services in a square footage per child of more than twice the regulated amount, currently housed in the recently completed purpose built Hodges building, located in an inspiring setting.
We will ensure that your invoices clearly reflect the 15 Hours of basic level EYE funding alongside the full Monkton service level of fees. If you wish your child to be excluded from elements of the additional services please contact the Head of Early Years at Monkton.
