Josh Morris and Pat Scott have ended up together on the Royal Navy’s busiest Front line squadron; 814 Naval Air Squadron. Maintaining 7 Merlin Anti-Submarine warfare helicopters and supporting High Readiness National Tasking.

Josh, a Sub Lieutenant in the role of Deputy Air Engineering Officer is responsible for the planning of maintenance and leading engineering teams on detachments away from RNAS Culdrose. While Patrick is a Leading Aircraft Engineering Technician who is responsible for supervising maintenance performed on the aircraft.

Both have had a varied and exciting career prior to crossing paths and being assigned to 814 NAS; Patrick joined the Navy in 2014, and has spent time embarked on Frigates as part of the engineering team, maintaining a Merlin Helicopter which has seen him patrol the British Isles and North Sea. He has also ventured into the Arctic Circle, serving on HMS Somerset, HMS Westminster and HMS Bulwark. He has had the opportunity to explore Norway, Iceland, Shetlands and Bahrain whilst embarked with the Navy, and also taken part in the annual Navy ski Championships in Tignes, in addition to mountain biking, hiking and shooting in Austria, and Dog Sledding in Norway. Josh, who joined the Navy in 2017 has since embarked on HMS Albion, sailing to the Far East, then going on to complete his Engineer System and Management Course in 2019. His time has included spending 4 months on the UK Aircraft Carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth off the East coast of America for the F-35 jet trails. Port visits included Norfolk Virginia, New York and trips to Washington. Becoming qualified as an Air Engineer Officer at the beginning of 2020, he has supported National tasking in Scotland during the first COVID Outbreak and most recently operated in the Arctic Circle and Norwegian Sea. Outside of engineering, Josh is assistant Secretary to the Royal Navy Polo Association and has represented the Royal navy at polo for the last 3 years, recently having the opportunity to play in South Africa.
