Christian Life

The Christian faith lies at the very heart of the school and pupils of all denominations are welcome. Children attend chapel services on four mornings a week, taken by the Headmaster or a visiting speaker. Pupils participate fully in these services with the older children taking it in turns to give the Bible reading. The majority of the staff are practising Christians and the Monkton Prayer Fellowship is supported by a large group of parents.

On Wednesday mornings the Christian Union, Ichthus, is held. Attendance is voluntary and most children attend during the course of the term. The programme alternates between small group sessions, led by teachers, and whole school meetings, led by the Ichthus Committee. The Committee is made up of volunteers from Year 8, who, under the guidance of staff, plan and take the meetings themselves. All Ichthus meetings are designed to encourage an enjoyable experience of the Christian faith through Bible study, drama, quizzes, music and a lot of.....fun!
