School History

The three schools that comprise Monkton Combe School all have different histories. The Pre-Prep is the most recent founded in 1929, the Prep School was founded in 1888 and the Senior School was founded 20 years earlier in 1868. A description of each school is provided in this section.

Clarendon Girls School merged with Monkton in the early 1990s and a detailed history of Clarendon and the events surrounding the merger has been written by former Monkton Head Master, Mr Michael Cuthbertson.
