Sport

Monkton has a strong sporting tradition and is committed to providing an extensive sporting programme. The major games are rugby, hockey, rowing, cricket and tennis for boys and hockey, netball, rowing and tennis for girls. Pupils are encouraged to participate in other sports which include athletics, badminton, basketball, football, fencing, golf, judo, squash, swimming and volleyball.

Our facilities are extensive and include a sports centre, swimming centre, astro turf, rugby and cricket pitches, squash courts, an outdoor pool and a boat house on the River Avon. Students in the Sixth Form are able to use the well-equipped gym at the Clarke Swimming Centre whilst teams regularly use the weight training facilities in the Knight Sports Centre.

Team sports and individual sport are encouraged and throughout the year the inter-house competitions from swimming, golf and five-a-side are eagerly supported! In the past few years Monkton Senior has sent touring sides to Gibraltar, Barbados and South Africa and participated in the numerous hockey and cricket festivals in the UK.
